Lead shields interfere with mammography

You probably grew up hearing about the dangers of x-ray technology to your health, and of course you’d like to protect your body from harm. So using a lead shield to protect your thyroid during a mammogram makes intuitive sense. However, mammography uses extremely low doses of radiation.
