So many sweeteners on the market these days, and not all of them match up with everything you want to sweeten. Which one is which, and which sweetener goes best with which foods? Here are some explanations and ideas.
Splenda packets (not with fiber) are 0 calorie, and you can use 2-3 of them two times per day. They are great in coffee, oatmeal, smoothies, plain Greek yogurt, and on sweet potatoes.
Truvia is a newer product which is more expensive and is great in iced tea, plain Greek yogurt, and on top of fruit.
Stevia is derived from the stevia leaf and has been around for a while. It definitely has a more natural taste and does require getting used to. I think it goes well in iced tea. It definitely is challenging to bake with.
Splenda Brown Sugar is an excellent product that is half Splenda and half real brown sugar. I think this is your best option for baked goods. It is a wonderful way to maintain flavor and lower sugar content.
Agave syrup and honey are natural and can be used for cooking or flavoring tea. It is best to use less than a tablespoon. They both also are great for plain Greek yogurt and oatmeal.
