For women with cancer, for the sake of “normal”

Here’s a lovely example of little things making all the difference. Started by a cancer survivor, Ears To You works to make the lives of women with cancer a little brighter through the gift of something beautiful. Founder and Executive Director Ruth Crane says that the earrings her organization gives to women with cancer provide a distraction from the medical worries, making women feel “normal” and beautiful even while they’re stuck with IVs and their hair is falling out.

Check out this quick, touching video about the program, and if you’d like to support Ears To You, one way to do so is to buy a pair of Ears To You earrings for $10 in the Women’s Health Boutique at St.Vincent Breast Center or in St.Vincent Carmel Hospital. When you buy a pair of earrings, another pair is given to a cancer patient who has lost her hair because of chemotherapy.

So far, purchases in the boutique have earned more than $1,000 for Ears To You to purchase and distribute these earrings to chemotherapy patients. Women’s Health Boutique is a resource for many of the things women need before, during or after a health event like mastectomy, including wigs, scarves, bras, and prostheses.
